Getting started

utucat catalogues what you own on a phone or a desktop: photograph a thing to save it, find it again by typing a few letters, and turn it into a listing when it’s time to sell. utucat stock does the same for a stockroom.

utucat is in a closed beta. Request an invite at utucat.com, saying what you’d catalogue: a house, a garage, a stockroom. Once your address is on the list, sign in at app.utucat.com with an emailed link, a passkey, Google or Microsoft.

Each field on an item is public or private, and some start private. Listings and AI prompts are built from public fields only, unless you choose to include private fields in a prompt. Stock costs and vendor invoice details are never included.

utucat gives you a prompt to copy into any AI assistant. You can also add your own Claude or Gemini API key in Settings to fill in an item’s details in one click.

  • Your browser sends the prompt, and the item’s photos unless you turn Send photos off, straight to that provider. It doesn’t pass through VCNet.
  • The key is kept in that browser tab only, until you close the tab or sign out.
  • The provider bills your account with them.

You can download a full export of a catalogue or stockroom, with its items, photos and stock records, at any time from inside the app.
